June 12 @ 6:00 pm
An event every year that begins at 6:00 pm on day 12 of June, repeating indefinitely
Historic Milwaukee’s Annual Member meeting is set for Wednesday, June 12 at 6 pm in the Pigsville neighborhood at WRTP/Big Step at 3841 W Wisconsin Ave. We look forward to hosting the meeting at a venue in one of this year’s Spotlight Neighborhoods for Doors Open. The meeting will include refreshments and networking followed by an overview of Historic Milwaukee’s financials and programs in the past year.
The meeting will take place in what was historically the Drott Tractor Company Showroom and Manufacturing Building, a Mediterranean Revival building designed by Martin Tullgren & Sons. In 1916, Edward A. Drott started the E.A. Drott Company to develop and sell heavy machinery, including tractors and plows. Construction began on the building in 1928 and was developed as a showroom for the company’s products that were constructed in the adjacent Menomonee Valley. The company continued until 1969 when it was acquired by TENNECO. In 2007, the building was purchased by WRTP/Big Step, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing the ability of public and private sector organizations to recruit and develop a more diverse, qualified workforce in construction, manufacturing and emerging sectors of the regional economy.
Pigsville is one of seven neighborhoods located in the Near West Side, others include: Avenues West; Cold Spring Park; Concordia; Martin Drive; Merrill Park; and Miller Valley. During Doors Open 2019, more than 20 sites will be available to tour in these neighborhoods which are featured as this year’s Spotlight Neighborhoods.
Tickets for the annual meeting are $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Ticket sales help offset the expense of hosting the meeting.
