Cemented as a neighborhood by the construction of the Marquette Interchange in the 1960s, Avenues West is full of institutions and a historic blend of working class dwellings and prominent mansions. Today one of its most prominent features is Marquette University, which started as a single building in 1907. This tour will explore the grand history of families like Brumder, Cudahy and Pabst alongside the families that worked in their service as well as the role of institutions like Marquette and Gesu church. The walk typically takes about 70-75 minutes.
