Paintings, Prints and Portraits—collecting and displaying art in the 19th century.
Enjoy a narrated virtual tour of the restored Frederick Koenig House and learn how the Victorians collected and decorated with art. View nearly 300 original oil and watercolor paintings, marble and bronze sculptures, wood carvings and more. See one of Milwaukee’s few ‘Salon style’ rooms with paintings hung floor to ceiling. You will also learn how some of Milwaukee’s 19th century philanthropists helped shape local museum’s collections. The Frederick Koenig house is a restored, upper middle-class home located in Milwaukee’s Walnut Hill neighborhood and retains most of its period details. The tour will be led by the homeowner and Historic Milwaukee board member Stewart Dempsey.
A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
This program will be offered on Zoom Webinar.
