Holiday Lunch and Learn at the Wisconsin Club

Celebrate the holiday season at the Wisconsin Club with Historic Milwaukee. Guests will enjoy holiday décor, a meal and desert, and a talk about landscape design of the 19th century including the former Mitchell residence by horticulturalist and Historic Milwaukee board member Stewart Dempsey.

The rapid expansion of cities in the mid to late 19th century illuminated the need for landscaped public parks.  These egalitarian spaces offered respite and escape from the noise, grime and toil of everyday city life.  Wealthier city dwellers began crafting their own private landscaped grounds as a visual indication of their wealth and status, but also as a very private escape.  Often on a grand scale and lavishly designed, very few of these magnificent landscapes survive today.

Tickets: $50 Historic Milwaukee Members; $60 Non-Members

Doors open at 11:30 am
Lunch served at 12:00 pm
Presentation at 12:30 pm
