Building Description
The Pfister Hotel, originally opened in 1893, is one of Milwaukee’s most iconic and historic luxury hotels. Known for its stunning Romanesque Revival architecture, elegant marble lobby, and rich Victorian art collection, the hotel has remained a centerpiece of downtown Milwaukee for more than 130 years. It was built by Guido and Charles Pfister and quickly earned a reputation as the “Grand Hotel of the West.”
What makes The Pfister especially unique is its blend of historic charm and modern luxury. The hotel features breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, an Artist in Residence program showcasing local talent, and easy access to Milwaukee’s vibrant theater, dining, and lakefront attractions. Guests experience both timeless elegance and the welcoming hospitality that has made The Pfister a Milwaukee landmark for generations.
Visitor Experience
There will be no guided tours; however, The Pfister will provide a QR code for a self-guided map of the hotel’s Victorian art collection. Guests are welcome to explore the first and second floors of the hotel at their leisure, stop to ask questions along the way, and chat with the Artist in Residence.
If available that weekend, Rouge Ballroom and the 7th-floor ballrooms will also be open to the public. Please note that Blu will not be available, as Afternoon Tea service will be hosted during that time.
