Step Inside Milwaukee’s most distinctive art destination during Doors Open Weekend. The David Barnett Gallery, housed in the stunning Historic Button Mansion, offers visitors an unforgettable blend of architectural and world class art.
Founded in 1966, the gallery is the oldest, largest, and most diverse in Wisconsin, showcasing an eclectic and thoughtfully curated collection of over 6,000 works. From 19th and 20th century masters to contemporary and local artists across a range of styles and media, the gallery is a treasure trove for art lovers and collectors alike.
What makes our space truly unique is the way it merges historic elegance with modern creativity, As you explore the gallery’s intimate rooms and grand staircases, you’ll find original hardwood floors, beautiful tall windows, ornate moldings, and walls alive with visual storytelling from around the world.
Entrance is free and for a small donation of 10$ to the 501c3 nonprofit Artist Resource Transnational organization you can take in the amazing rooftop panoramic view.
Visitor Experience
Get ready for the ultimate celebration! This year, Doors Open coincides with The David Barnett Galleries’ 60th anniversary! To celebrate the event, musician Keshena Armon will sing and play piano live from noon to 4:00 rocking decades of David’s favorite hits.
Experience exclusive guided tours led by knowledgeable staff.
Visitors have the option to visit the building’s rooftop to see a panoramic view of the city for a $10 donation to A.R.T. Artist Resource Transnational (ART) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 arts organization that preserves artists’ legacies past, present, and future. We believe artists deserve the rights to the creative value of their artwork and so we lobby to expand benefits in support of it. With the goal of creating opportunities for international exchange through exhibitions and educational programming and storytelling, we aspire to help create world peace in some small way.
