Building Description

This 1920s-era industrial building was once (according to Fur Trade Review Magazine) home to one of the largest plants in the United States devoted exclusively to the dressing and dyeing of Australian and New Zealand rabbit skins. Lois J. Laskin was the building architect for this three-story brick facade building.

Today the Fur Factory is being repurposed into workshops, makerspaces, and artist studios for Milwaukee entrepeneurs as part of a renaissance of the Riverworks Creative District along Fratney Street. Home Again Fabric & Furnishings, which is the retail anchor for the building, is a local woman-owned home furnishings store offering upholstery and furniture repair services.
