Islamic Society of Milwaukee

The Islamic Society of Milwaukee is the largest Islamic facility in Wisconsin. See how this former MPS grade school (New Road School) was expanded to accommodate the community’s Muslim population. The original “New Road School” building was enveloped with multiple additions, but the original structure remains. During your visit, high school volunteers will give you a tour of the entire facility. You will see the newly renovated prayer hall (renovated this past spring!) and learn about the features that are found in every mosque around the world. You can also learn about different styles of Islamic calligraphy, discover why Islamic art often focuses on the abstract, have your name written in Arabic script, get a henna design on your hand, and enjoy some refreshments.
