Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall

Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall is located in Milwaukee’s Southside neighborhood, Burnham Park. The building dates back to 1900. In the early 1900s, our beer hall served as a rooming house and a rumored brothel for agricultural workers who worked the celery fields that surrounded the building at the time. It also has served as a hub and office space for local unions. Over the years, the building housed multiple venues, including the Parakeet Tap Tavern, before opening as Art Altenburg’s Concertina Bar in 1982. The bar became a haven for folks who enjoyed a night of beer, friends, polka dancing, and much more. Since 2007, Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall has proudly carried on that legacy, preserving Milwaukee’s rich polka heritage with live polka music every Wednesday night and continuing to welcome generations of guests through its historic doors.
