Milwaukee County Transit System’s (MCTS) Fleet Maintenance Building handles major mechanical repairs and body work for more than 375, eleven-ton buses … all to keep Milwaukee County residents moving!
Since it opened in 1988, the two-story building located at 1525 W. Vine St. sits on 12 acres of land and has enough gross square footage space (213,775 sq. ft.) to hold nearly five football fields. At MCTS’s Fond du Lac Avenue and Kinnickinnic Avenue Garages, buses are fueled and cleaned and get day-to-day maintenance to make sure they are running properly. Buses needing major body work, mechanical or engine repair are serviced at the Fleet Maintenance Building. Take a virtual tour of Fleet Maintenance’s Body Shop, Paint Hangar, Warehouse, Maintenance/Bus Shelters Shop, and Mechanical Repair Shop. Also, be sure to watch the behind-the-scenes footage of how we keep our fleet clean and road ready!
