Building Description
Set on the bluffs above Lake Michigan, Saint John’s On The Lake is a member of Historic Milwaukee with a spectacular lakefront setting blending legacy, architecture and modern community living. The campus combines lake and skyline views, modern gathering spaces, landscaped outdoor areas, and a Town Center designed for daily connection. The award-winning South Tower was designed by Perkins-Eastman of Chicago Illinois, and the beautiful Federalist-style chapel by AG Architects, in Wauwatosa Wisconsin.
Founded in 1868 by women of the Episcopal Church, Saint John’s has provided innovative, life-changing services to older adults for 158 years. Saint John’s is a 501C3 Corporation overseen by a fifteen-member Board of Directors, including two resident members. Previously located downtown on Cass Street, Saint John’s moved to its current location in 1979.
Visitor Experience
Doors Open guests will experience guided tours that explore how architecture, location, and amenities shape everyday life for residents and their families. Visitors to Saint John’s On The Lake may enjoy a variety of guided tours of the Town Center, Saint John’s community spaces including the current Mark Weller exhibition at MOWA On The Lake. Peek into two distinctly different restaurants and wellness spaces. Discover the plaza a “secret garden” where kids can swing on a glider, look out over the butterfly garden, search for the bee colonies while enjoying breathtaking lake and city views.
