Galbraith Carnahan Architecture & Duffek Construction built Shechem at Hope Street. It opened in August of 2022 and is now a community center to 2,039 members. Hundreds of young people come to Shechem every single week to find safety, community and hope.
Visitor Experience
Visitors to Shechem at Hope Street will experience a behind-the-scenes look at one of Milwaukee’s most unique community spaces. Through tours (guided or self-guided), guests will explore the gym, gathering spaces, and program areas while learning how Shechem was created as a hub for youth, young adults, and families.
Staff will be available to share the vision behind the space and answer questions about its development and daily operations. Visitors will leave with a deeper understanding of how Shechem creates belonging, opportunity, and connection in Milwaukee.
