Building Description
Join the St. Augustine of Hippo parish community in Bay View to celebrate two of its biggest events of the year: Doors Open Milwaukee and Oktoberfest. Both events will begin at 12:00 PM at the parish on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Visitors may simultaneously enjoy St. Augustine’s history while celebrating the parish’s German roots at our annual Oktoberfest celebration.
St. Augustine is opening its doors so the public can discover more about the Catholic parish, their German roots, and unique Milwaukee architecture, designed by famed Milwaukee architect Peter Brust. Founded in the 1880s, St. Augustine is one of the oldest Catholic congregations on Milwaukee’s South Side. Though the church underwent a renovation in the 1980s, the parish community and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee have made several changes to restore the church to its original design.
