Building Description

Home to one of the largest map collections in the United States, the American Geographical Society Library (AGSL) contains nearly 2 million items related to exploring and knowing our world as much as possible. Located on the third floor of the UWM Golda Meir Library’s East Wing, it’s where you’ll find maps, atlases, globes, photographs, monographs, serials and digital geospatial data from throughout recorded history. It’s crucial information that supports instruction, research and outreach at UWM and around the world.

Visitor Experience

Take a trek through the many historic Milwaukee maps and atlases, as well as other Milwaukee-centric materials from UWM’s archives and special collections. You’ll also be able to take a self-guided tour of some of the top pieces from the collection, including maps, atlases and photographs featuring locations from around the world.
