Building Description

Located on the first floor of Mitchell Hall, the Emile H. Mathis Gallery mounts exhibitions curated by UWM Art History faculty and staff, students and partners. Shows feature works from the UWM Art Collection, which consists of roughly 9,000 objects representing a broad array of the global histories of art and culture. That includes extensive collections of prints, modern art, African Art, and Greek and Russian icons.

Visitor Experience

Explore the Mathis Gallery and take in the works currently on display, then step behind the scenes for a rare peek inside one of the gallery’s collection storage areas, a space typically closed to the public.
