Building Description
Perched on the shore of Lake Michigan, the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences is dedicated to researching, understanding, preserving and teaching about one of the world’s most precious natural resources. Its modern building is home to classrooms, laboratories and UWM’s fleet of research vessels, including the R/V Neeskay, which patrols the lake year-round and is an invaluable tool for faculty members and students alike.
Visitor Experience
Explore UWM’s School of Freshwater Sciences with behind-the-scenes access to research labs, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities for all ages. Meet the scientists and students working to protect the Great Lakes and learn about research on fish, aquaculture, water quality, invasive species, climate change, and more. The Open House is held in conjunction with Harbor Fest, with additional activities happening throughout the harbor.
