Building Description
Originally built in 1890, the Pabst Boiler House was once home to the boiler system that produced the steam power and heat for the entire Pabst Brewery. The Boiler House was redeveloped in 2008 to a 40,000 square foot office building with class A finishes, exposed cream city brick and timber joists, lofted ceilings and preserved historic features throughout and contributes to the Brewery District’s sustainability plan with a 4,500 square foot vegetated roof reducing rain water run off and roof heat build-up.
Milwaukee’s newest classical music station, Wisconsin Public Radio’s 90.7FM, proudly operates from the historic Pabst Boiler House. Our broadcast studios were designed to provide a beautiful visual juxtaposition against the historic features of the space.
From these studios, our afternoon classical music drive-time host Jason Heilman broadcasts live to listeners statewide from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every weekday. Also, we deliver Morning Edition to listeners in Wisconsin, while our local news team provides comprehensive coverage to the entire state.
Visitor Experience
Visitors will have the opportunity to get a peek behind the microphone! People will have the opportunity to talk with studio and transmission engineers, our news department, and our local afternoon drive radio host, Jason Heilman. Those who stop by will be able to go inside the studios and see how radio is made! This is a family-friendly location with experiences for all ages!
