History of the Dubbel Dutch
Built in 1898, as a double house for two families who were siblings, every detail in the house has a careful symmetry to it, featuring architectural details hand-spun balusters on the staircase to intricate brass door knobs.
The architects behind the once private residence were George Bowman Ferry and Alfred C. Clas. Ferry & Clas’s work spans across the city, from the Milwaukee Public Central Library to the Pabst Mansion to many of the homes in the East Side neighborhood.
